We wanted to communicate the events of today. We now know that the root cause of the domain name service (DNS) issue and it has been resolved.
The situation began this morning at 7:01 AM CDT when an external DNS configuration was made. As a result of this change, some of your customers may have had intermittent access to your store. Please be assured that your store was operational even though some customer traffic may have been disrupted.
At 10:48 CDT, the DNS configuration was corrected. As the correction is populated across the Internet, intermittent routing services began to be restored – a process that could take several hours to complete. We have found some geographies are taking longer to propagate than others. For example, generally DNS information is propagating more quickly in North America and Asia than Europe. We wish there was something we could do to speed up this process, but it is dependent on how frequently the ISPs update their DNS information.
Please accept our apologies for this inconvenience and delay. In the meantime, we have active support teams diligently monitoring your stores and continuing to watch indicators as the situation resolves. Our customers are our #1 priority and the trust and confidence you place in us is very important.
